Speaking of fried chicken, if you are in the Brooklyn area you could also head to Buffalo Boss for some great wings. Jay-Z, his mother Gloria, and sister Andrea are investors in the restaurant, which is owned by Jay’s first cousin Jamar White. The restaurant, which uses all organic chicken, experienced a 60% increase in revenue after Jay’s investment in the spot became public. I guess you could call that the “Jay-Z Effect”.

Jay-Z aka Cashmere Jones, photographed for Reasonable Doubt by Jonathan Mannion in 1996.
Jonathan Mannion and Hov used crime themes such as John Gotti, Brooklyn, drug running, and the Mafia as aspirations for the look of the shoot. The photo shoot took place on the roof of Mannion’s apartment building on 72nd and Riverside in Manhattan - where Donald Trump now has his empire.
“Back then, it was all busted and beat up, and it fit the vibe. I knew I could get some beautifully composed shots, based on traditional cameras. So I was shooting with Hasselblads and Rolleiflexes, like press photographers did back in the Civil Rights era.” - Jonathan Mannion, speaking with Complex magazine in 2012.
